1993, Italy only) Unusual Omega Seamaster Professional Diver which is an automatic, but not a chronometer.
In 1993, the immense success of the "James Bond" watch caused an overwhelming demand for the 2531.80 Chronometer and 2541.80 Quartz models. Omega was experiencing delays in getting certifications on enough of the automatic movements to ship the required quantities of the chronometer version to every country at the same time. Omega's distributor in Italy did not want to wait and insisted on Omega producing a special version for them that contained the Omega 1108 automatic movement instead. The 1108 is same movement as the 1109, merely lacking being sent to COSC for the chronometer certification testing. Thus, this unusual Seamaster Professional was born that lacks the "Chronometer" indication on the dial as on the quartz versions, yet clearly is an automatic based on the date window position and sweep second hand movement.
